With the advent of battery technology, the risk posed in the event of a battery fire can be devastating. Electric Vehicles are powered by high energy density Li-ion battery packs. Because of this, energy remains trapped inside the battery and a process known as thermal runaway can occur, in which the battery essentially continuously overheats and over-pressurizes and is prone to fires, arc-flashing, off-gassing, and sometimes explosions.

The key to dealing with EV fire is rapid, focused detection and suppression to stop the propagation process.

How we help

Our systems can be pre-engineered to fit in battery packs that are mounted in the rear, the platform of the vehicle or roof-mounted.

Should a fire start in the any of the battery housing compartment, our products can detect fire based on Rate of Rise in Temperature or a Fixed Temperature threshold that you choose.

Once detected the sensor will signal the system to discharge the suppressant through strategically placed nozzles, flooding the battery compartments to quickly suppress the fire while also cooling down the battery cells. While this whole process is automated, the driver is alerted through system indicators on the panel.

It is highly recommended to provide a complete solution that not only detects but suppresses the fire in the case of Electric Vehicles.
